What browsers will my site be compatible with?
A domain name is the name address of a web site, also known as URL (Uniform Resource Locator). For example, this site’s domain name is epakistantrade.org. When you register a domain name, it will be associated with the computer on the Internet you designate, typically your hosting company’s server.
Q. How do I check if the name I want to use is already taken?
Any Domain Names can be registered by IWS. IWS is a reseller of domain names. Please e-mail a web-address you are interested in purchasing and we will let you know if it is available. If it is not available, we will provide you with options that are available.
Q. Why should I hire a web designer (or web design studio)?
To save time. Hiring a web site designer will help you save precious time so that you can concentrate on your business, your vocation, or your organization. Even the best web site software takes time to learn. Many are expensive. Some limit creativity and are not compatible with each other.
A web site designer can implement proven skills to create your web site quickly and efficiently.
Q. I want a web site designed, where do I start?
First, write down the components that you would like to see in your site. We then can provide you with ideas on other components, or just provide you with an estimate based on your components. Check out your competitors and see what they are doing. You may get some ideas on what to do and what NOT to do!
To minimize the involvement and cost of the web designer, supply as much information as possible. The following are suggestions to start with:
-
Decide what you want on the web.
-
Set your goals – What do you want to accomplish?
-
Organize your ideas into Main Topics
-
Decide what you want your web site to look like – Colors? Layout ideas? Do you have a site you admire? Then please send the URL address.
Q. I have a web site, but I’d like it to look more professional. Can you help?
Yes. IWS Web Design Team will examine your current site, discuss your goals, and redesign your site.
Q. Can I start with approximately five (seven? eight?) pages to my web site and add onto it later?
Absolutely. After your web site is up and running, contact IWS with additional ideas.
Q. What is the difference between web design and web maintenance?
Web design is the actual creation of the initial web site. Web maintenance is the updating and changing of content on that site. The web design contract is separate from the web maintenance or web master contract. Minimal changes to a web site will not be assessed. For example, if your e-mail address changes and you want it corrected on the web page, you will not be charged. Simply e-mail your request. However, if you expect your site to change frequently, a maintenance agreement can be arranged.
Q. What is the design process?
We require a deposit on all designs. We also will provide you with a web site questionnaire. This helps us get a better idea of your tastes in web design. We want to get your design right the first time around, and need to know what you have in mind. We also will send you a work agreement stating the work we will be doing. After those three steps are accomplished, we move onto the actual design. We will provide you with a large graphic of what our concept of your site will be. We then can work together on any changes you may want to have done. We then move onto what a secondary design page will look like. Once those two pages are completed and approved, we break the pages in HTML. We ask that you provide all of your content to us so we can then complete your site. E-commerce process is slightly different. We also do testing of orders, and training if required.
Q. Why do I need Hosting Services?
In order for your site to be seen on the Internet it must be stored on a computer, a web server, that is connected to the internet. Hosting companies rent space on their web servers that are running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Q. Who owns the web site after it is designed?
Once the site is paid in full, the rights belong to the company we design it for.
Q. Can this project take place entirely over the Internet?
We have worked with numerous clients long distance. Some clients, we worked solely via email. Since all of our designs come via email, it is very convenient for the client to review when they are ready. No appointments are necessary!
Q. I want to host with you, how do I transfer my domain name?
We will do the necessary changes for you if you still have the original email address you registered your domain under. If you are not sure about that, drop us an email. If you are not accessible by the email address you registered your domain with, we can advise you on the steps to submit the changes. If your current ISP registered your domain, we will first attempt to contact them to make the necessary changes. However, some ISP’s will charge for this service.
Q. Can I get my own email address at my domain, such as john@mydomain.com?
Of course! When you first set up your email addresses, we will ask you all the alias domains that you want set up for you. We will FORWARD any email that goes to that address to the email address of your choice. You will still need to have an account with a ISP (such as Earthlink or AOL) and we simply forward all your email to your address.
Q. How should I prepare my content for my new site?
We prefer you to send your content via E-mail. In the subject line of your email, we ask you to put the title of the page you would like the content to go on. If you have changes, we would also prefer you to send the changes in the same manner.
Q. How long will the design take?
Once the content is provided to us, and the design is approved, we can produce your site in as little time as 5 days. Depending on the size of the site, it can fluctuate. If there are a lot of changes made during the process, it can slow down the time tremendously. We ask that the content be edited and ready to go, so we can publish your site faster.
Q. I need to update my web site, can you do that for me?
Yes, we can update sites for your company. We can price it monthly, or we can price it per instance.
Q. What browsers will my site be compatible with?
It is impossible to get a great looking site that is compatible with the endless amounts of browsers and browser versions. We design for Netscape 4.6 and higher, which is currently at Netscape 6.1, and Internet Explorer 4.0 which is now at 6.0. Netscape does not plan to continue creating browsers in the future.
